SAMEDI
Samedi is a piece for oboe and piano that combines four elements which at a first glance don’t seem to relate to one another: my own approach to Per Nørgård’s infinity series, jazz-infused harmonies and piano voicings associated with jazz-pianists Bill Evans and Herbie Hancock, a deconstructed approach to Cuban chachachá, and a formal structure inspired by “Agua” – a poem by Dominican poet Manuel del Cabral.
