COLOR DE HORMIGA
Color de Hormiga. A Spanish phrase meaning 'the color of an ant,' but Dominican use it to describe something that has taken a negative, ugly, or unfavorable turn; something that has gone awry; a misfortune. The character of the piece stems from the narrative of Hypatía Belicia Cabral, a character from Junot Díaz’ The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, as she navigates her teenage years at the height of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo’s dictator regime.
